OverviewSki tourism started in Wengen with the Downhill Only ski club, a pioneer band of British skiers formed in February 1925 to race against their Kandahar Club rivals in Mürren. The club name developed from its members' customary train ride up the mountain in order to ski down, a process considered distinctly unsporting by the standards of the day when people thought there should be no gain without pain. Both ski clubs are still very much alive and functioning in the resorts. Altitude: 1274m-2320m | |
 | In a quiet location by the nursery slopes, just 5 minutes' walk from the village centre, the Beausite Park offers high standards of both service and cuisine and has a refined atmosphere. |
